The Baskam-Sotera Company was formed in 2001 with the partnership of two very distinct and driven men who combine design, craftsmanship, and construction expertise to produce a high quality company with a great deal of experience. DAVID H BASKAM, PE, CR, the designing and Managing Partner, is a NYS Professional Engineer with over 20 years in the construction field. He honed his carpentry skills while working to put himself through college. He began his own contracting company in 1991 operating under the name Prestige Builders. In 2001 Dave and Matt entered into a partnership and the Baskam-Sotera Company was formed. In an effort to remain on top in the industry, Dave has acquired his national credentials as a Certified Remodeler and as a Certified Kitchen & Bath Remodeler from NARI (the National Association of the Remodeling Industry). MATTHEW SOTERA, the Field Operations Manager, has been experienced in fine carpentry since completing his degree from college in 1990. Matt was trained by “old world” carpenters allowing him to gain knowledge in all aspects of carpentry from historic detailing to the use of present day, high tech materials. He has experience in many specialty construction areas such as “green” or “environmental” construction, sound proofing, climate controls, handicap accessible structures, etc… His prior projects include a wide range of work from church renovations to historic restoration. Matt previously operated his own general contracting company, “Sotera Contracting”, beginning in 1994 and has been striving for perfection on every job since. Together David and Matt are the perfect combination of business, design, management, and craftsmanship. The product these men and their crew create is that of experience and hard work, never settling for mediocrity.
